We began our business over seventeen years ago at the urging of my brother-in-law, who knew and loved the oil business since his California days. When he and my sister moved back to Texas, they started small, vending at local fairs and open markets. Ultimately he talked us into investing in a small oil display of our own. As they became a fixture at a local flea market, we began the traveling branch of the business.

Over the years, we vended at the Luling Watermelon Thump, McKinney Third Monday Trade Days, Canton First Monday Trade Days, Lockhart's Chisholm Trail, and the Denton Jazz Festival among others.

My love for all things Medieval and Renaissance opened doors to market our oils at the North Texas Irish Festival, Muskogee's The Castle, and the Oklahoma Medieval Faire on the OU campus. But our greatest love came with Hawkwood Fantasy Faire in Roanoke, TX. We spent three years there in the dragon castle located at the back of the grounds and made great friends with many other vendors and performers. When it folded in the fall of 2001, we decided to slow down for awhile and only travelled to a couple of venues in the following six years.

Four years ago, we bought the shop at Vikon Village Market, renamed it Our Place Oils, and broadened the product line to include custom candles, creams and butters, and scrubs. We have maintained the quality and affordability that our customers of over 20 years have come to expect. While prices continue to rise, we have tried to keep ours affordable, refusing to dilute or extend our oils at the expense of quality.

Spring 2008 we joined the folks at Four Winds Faire in Troup,TX for a great eight weekends of family fun in the French Renaissance. As we encountered old and new customers alike, we are reminded of the importance of friends and family.  We have included links to some of the great people we met there. Although family obligations and new ventures turned our attention elsewhere, we will remember the experience and the great people who make up the faire.

As we start a new chapter,  we hope to see you at our new shop in in Firewheel Town Center in Garland, TX or hear from you through email.
